PGPD Investigates Bank Robbery in Largo

Updated June 21, 2013:  With the assistance of the Metropolitan Police Department, the primary suspect in this case has been arrested.  He  is identified as 44-year-old Keith Antoine Dunmore of the unit block of 68th Street in Southeast Washington.  Dunmore was arrested near his home without incident on June 21, 2013.  He remains in the custody of the Metropolitan Police Department awaiting extradition to Prince George's County.  Detectives identified the suspect with help from the community.

Detectives continue to follow leads in an effort to identify and locate the second suspect, believed to have driven the getaway vehicle.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is working to identify the suspect seen in the above surveillance photographs.

On June 20, 2013 at approximately 4:22 pm, the suspect robbed the PNC Bank in the 10400 block of Campus Way South in Largo.  The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect approached a teller, displayed a handgun and demanded funds.  The suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

Detectives believe the suspect fled in the gold Jeep pictured below.  The vehicle may have been driven by a second suspect.

PGPD Searches for Critical Missing Person

Lacy McLeod

The Prince George's County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a critical missing person. He is identified as 77-year-old Lacy McLeod of the 6800 block of Bock Road in Oxon Hill MD. He was last seen on June 18th, around 9:00 pm. McLeod suffers from several medical conditions and may be in need of medication.

McLeod is described as an African American male, 5’9”, and 200 pounds.

PGPD Arrests Suspects for 80+ Copper Thefts; Caused $700,000 in Damages

The Prince George’s County Police Department arrested three suspects wanted for a string of 82 copper thefts.  They are identified as 24-year-old Marlon Glenn of the 800 block of Nalley Road in Landover, 21-year-old Sean Wesley Sibley of the 800 block of Nalley Road in Landover and 25-year-old Marco Samuel Howard of the 1100 block of Ivy Club Lane in Landover.

On June 12, 2013 at approximately 4:30 pm, patrol officers responded to an apartment complex in the 800 block of Warley Drive in Landover for a report that 25 units had been broken in to earlier in the day.  The suspects stole copper tubing from each of the units.  The stolen copper was then scrapped at an area business.

The three suspects are also linked to 56 other burglaries at an apartment complex in the 900 block of Attlee Way in Landover.  The suspects stole copper tubing and PVC fittings from the sprinkler systems in the utility closets of the units.  The removal of the pipes caused more than $700,000 in water damage to the units. 

Detectives arrested Sibley on June 16, 2013 at a family member’s home in Bowie.  Howard turned himself in to the PGPD on June 19, 2013.  Glenn was arrested on June 19, 2013 at his home.   Sibley is charged with first degree burglary and other related charges.  Howard and Glenn are charged with third and fourth degree burglary and theft.

PGPD's Special Operations Division Holds Open House

The Prince George's County Police Department's Special Operations Division is hosting "SOD Day" for members of the Citizens Advisory Councils representing the six police districts.  Guests are invited to meet and greet members of SOD and get a firsthand look at the many tools and other equipment used by the Special Operations Division.  SOD is home to eight dedicated sections which house specially trained personnel and equipment.  The sections include the Aviation, Motors, K-9, Tactical, Traffic, Marine, Conflict Negotiations and Special Services Sections.

Guests will have an opportunity to try on the department's impaired vision goggles which simulate varying levels of intoxication.  Participants can then run through a battery of tests to prove the dangers of drinking then getting behind the wheel.  Members of the media are welcome to attend "SOD Day" to experience these educational tools firsthand during this busy summer driving season.

PGPD Releases Photos of Bank Robbery Suspect

The Prince George’s County Police Department is working to identify the suspect seen in the above surveillance photographs.

On June 19, 2013 at approximately 2:10 pm, the suspect robbed the SunTrust Bank in the 12400 block of Fairwood Parkway in Bowie.

The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect approached a bank teller and passed a note demanding cash. The teller complied. The suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

PGPD Arrests Suspect in College Park Robbery

The Prince George’s County Police Department apprehended a suspect after he robbed a 63-year-old woman in College Park. The suspect is identified as 18-year-old Johnny Alejandro Turcios of the 1800 block of Keokee Street in Langley Park.

On June 19, 2013 at approximately 11:10 am, patrol officers responded to Guilford Road near Wake Forest Road for the report of a strong-arm citizen robbery. Upon arrival, patrol officers spoke with the victim, who said she had just been robbed of her iPad.

The preliminary investigation reveals the woman was approached by Turcios as she was walking home. Turcios assaulted the woman, and then struggled with her as he attempted to steal the woman’s purse. The woman was able to retain her purse, but the suspect was able to flee with her iPad. A City of College Park Parking Authority officer attempted to intervene and directed responding PGPD patrol officers to the area where Turcios ran.

Patrol officers and a K-9 team were able to track Turcios to a shed in the 4600 block of Guilford Place, where he was arrested without incident. Turcios admitted his involvement in the robbery, and now faces charges of robbery and multiple counts of second degree assault.

The victim suffered minor cuts and bruises, and was treated on the scene.

PGPD to Conduct Sobriety Checkpoint in Lanham

Updated June 24, 2013: The Prince George's County Police Department's Special Operations Division's sobriety checkpoint was a success. Officers made 5 DUI arrests and 1 drug arrest.  

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Special Operations Division will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint this Friday, June 21, 2013 from 9:00 pm to 3:00 am.  Officers will be stopping drivers in the 7900 block of Annapolis Road in Lanham.
