PGPD Mourns the Loss of POFC Kevin Bowden

Posted on 6:02 PM by Unknown
Police Officer First Class Kevin Bowden

The Prince George's County Police Department announces the untimely death of Police Officer First Class Kevin Bowden. POFC Bowden died from injuries sustained in a car crash at the intersection of Branch Avenue and Surratts Road in Clinton on October 18, 2012.

The preliminary investigation reveals that POFC Bowden was off-duty in his marked cruiser traveling northbound on Branch Avenue around 3:00 pm. The cruiser collided with another vehicle, causing POFC Bowden's cruiser to hit a pole. POFC Bowden was rushed to Southern Maryland Hospital Center where he succumbed to his injuries. The female driver in the other car was taken to Prince George's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police Officer First Class Bowden was a six-year veteran with the Prince George's County Police Department. He lived in Clinton and was assigned to District IV. He was 28 years old.
The PGPD sincerely appreciates the outpouring of support from the community during this difficult time. POFC Bowden's death comes less than two months after POFC Adrian Morris was killed in the line of duty in a car crash on I-95.

Chief Mark Magaw will provide an update on Friday at 11:30 am in the multi-purpose room at Police Headquarters. For more information, please contact the Media Relations Division at 301-772-4710.
