PGPD Arrests Second Suspect in Murder of Eliezer Reyes

Posted on 6:19 PM by Unknown
Luis Carlos Guzman-Ventura

The Prince George’s County Police Department arrested a second suspect for the murder of 14-year-old Eliezer Reyes of Lewisdale. The suspect is identified as 19-year-old Luis Carlos Guzman-Ventura of the 2300 block of Rittenhouse Street in Hyattsville.

On December 5, 2012, at 12:15 am, patrol officers responded to the 2200 block of Sheridan Street in Lewisdale for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, patrol officers discovered two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Reyes died at a local hospital. The second victim, an adult male, survived his injuries.

Detectives quickly identified the suspects involved in this gang-related murder. Detectives arrested 24-year-old Jose Luis Rodriguez-Nunez on December 6, 2012. They also obtained a warrant for Guzman-Ventura on December 8, 2012. Investigative developments led detectives to believe Guzman-Ventura was living in Petersburg, Virginia. With the assistance of the Prince George's County Sheriff's Office, Chesterfield County VA Police Department and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Guzman-Ventura was located and arrested on June 17, 2013. He remains in Virginia awaiting extradition.
