PGPD Responds to Water Outage

Posted on 9:51 AM by Unknown

Residents Asked to Keep 911 Lines Open for Emergencies; Use 311 for Water-Related Issues

The Prince George’s County Police Department is taking several steps in response to the WSSC’s announced water restrictions that will affect the southern portion of the county.  Patrol officers in the affected areas will be making frequent stops at nursing homes and shopping centers.  The police officers will do these welfare checks to ensure residents and shoppers are safe.  There will also be increased patrols at the National Harbor in order to assist any guests or visitors.

The water restrictions are impacting two of the department’s police districts; District IV and portions of District V.  The District IV station in Oxon Hill and the District V station in Clinton will remain open for all normal police-related matters.  In order to do that, the PGPD is collecting bottles of water, hand sanitizer and portable restrooms for use at the District IV station.

Residents are asked to use the county’s 311 non-emergency line for any water-related issues or questions.  Please keep 911 lines open and available in the case of any medical or other immediate emergencies.

Resident are also urged to monitor the latest developments from WSSC from its website. (http://www.wsscwater.com/home/jsp/homeAlert.faces)   The WSSC provided these tips to its affected customers:
  • Stop all outside water use – no watering lawns, shrubs, flowers; no washing cars, no topping off swimming pools
  • Use water only as necessary – shorter showers and turn off faucets after washing hands
  • Limit flushing toilets
  • Postpone using washing machines and dishwashers

Please also monitor the PGPD’s social media sites on Facebook and Twitter (@PGPDNews) for the latest information from the department.
