UPDATE - PGPD Investigates Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Fort Washington

Posted on 9:12 AM by Unknown
Updated December 13, 2012 at 4:45 pm:  The pedestrian who was fatally struck in this accident has been identified as 46 year-old Terraine Saunders, of the 9100 block of Little Stone Drive in Fort Washington.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision in Fort Washington.

On December 13, 2012, at 6:30 am, police officers responded to the 9200 block of Livingston Road in Fort Washington for a traffic accident. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male pedestrian suffering from trauma sustained in the collision. The adult male was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation suggests the driver of a green Subaru fell asleep while traveling on Livingston Road.  The man’s vehicle left the roadway, jumped a curb, and struck the man who was on the sidewalk.  A woman who was also on the sidewalk was not hurt.  The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators.  Speed, alcohol, and/or drugs are not currently believed to be factors in this accident.  The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit at (301) 731-4422. Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or text “PGPD plus your message” to CRIMES (274637) on your cell phone or go to www.princegeorgescountymd.gov/police and submit a tip online.
