Updated December 5, 2012: Homicide detectives and District I police officers are in Lewisdale this evening handing out flyers and talking to community members about this morning's murder. Homicide detectives are pursuing solid leads in the investigation.

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a murder in Lewisdale.

On December 5, 2012, at 12:15 am, police officers responded to the 2200 block of Sheridan Street for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, police officers discovered two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. The first victim, an adult male, was taken to a local hospital in stable condition. The second victim, a 14 year old male, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead. The victim is identified as Eliezer Benjamin Reyes of Lewisdale.

The preliminary investigation suggests a suspect(s) fired shots from a vehicle as the victims and two others walked down the street. Two members of that group are documented gang members. Investigators believe this shooting was gang related. The suspect vehicle has been recovered.

Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) and motive in this case.
