The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a departmental crash in Laurel.
On April 29, 2013, at approximately 2:00 am, police officers responded to Baltimore Avenue and Contee Road for a crash involving an on-duty Prince George’s County Police officer. The officer, driving a marked SUV, struck a curb while turning from Baltimore Avenue onto Contee Rd. The SUV flipped over and struck a lamp post. The lamp post fell and damaged several parked cars.
The preliminary investigation suggests speed and weather were factors in the accident. The driver, a two-year veteran, was treated and released from the hospital.
