PGPD Seeks Information in Pedestrian Hit-and-Run in Capitol Heights

Posted on 12:11 PM by Unknown

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run in Capitol Heights that left a pedestrian in critical condition. Detectives would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision.

On April 7, 2013, at approximately 12:20 am, patrol officers were called to Hampton Park Boulevard near Hampton Mall Drive for the report of a pedestrian struck. Upon arrival, patrol officers found a 37-year-old man lying in the road. He was rushed to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation suggests the victim may have been lying in the roadway prior to the collision. The striking vehicle is described as a dark-colored SUV. The driver slowed down briefly after hitting the man, and then sped away towards Central Avenue.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is urged to call the Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit at (301) 731-4422 or (301) 306-5644. Callers wishing to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or text "PGPD plus your message" to CRIMES (274637) from your cell phone.
