PGPD Investigates Murder in Capitol Heights

The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a murder in Capitol Heights.  The victim is identified as 23-year-old Erick Amilicar Mendez-Orellana of the 4900 block of Marlboro Pike in Capitol Heights.

On March 12, 2013, at approximately 8:30 pm, patrol officers were called to the 4900 block of Marlboro Pike for the report of a shooting.  Upon arrival, patrol officers found Mendez-Orellana suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  He was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation reveals the murder appears to be gang-related.  Detectives are working to identify the suspect(s) in this case.
