On August 11, 2013, at approximately 6:00 am, patrol officers were called to the 2500 block of Nicol Circle for the report of a shooting.  Upon their arrival, patrol officers found a man inside a home suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  The victim is identified as 27-year-old Michael Leo Reese of the 2900 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Southeast Washington.  Reese was pronounced dead on the scene.

The preliminary investigation suggests Martin assisted James after James entered the home of an ex-girlfriend on Nicol Circle.  James confronted Reese inside the home and shot him.  James is facing charges of first degree murder.  Martin is charged with first and second degree murder.
